Stradbroke Cup 2010 – Gilwell Park, Gembrook
Great preparation, support, enthusiasm, equipment, weather and camping resulted in outstanding outcomes for the Scouts of 1st Greenhills.
Three Patrols of Scouts geared themselves up to attend this year’s Stradbroke Cup.
Golden Bunnies Patrol achieved Gold (Co-Holder Status) and Nemo & We are Sparta Patrols achieved Silver Awards. The overall standard of camping and behaviour was excellent. Congratulations to all scouts who attended.
The planning, preparation, organising of transport, purchasing of food and Patrol meetings prior to leaving Greensborough was testing enough. We met on time Thursday night and managed to leave by about 6pm. After the mandatory meal stop at MacDonalds we arrived and setup camp from 8.30pm.
The Scouts booked their Activities Friday morning and began the process of Assessment from Friday. The Patrols focussed strongly in setting their campsites up.
The assessors noted marked improvements from last year’s Stradbroke. This type of Camp is a learning process whereby Scouts are able to show improvement from their experiences and maturing.
Our Scouts showed that they can compete, support each other and also enjoy each other’s company.
Night time activities included campfires, a movie, disco and the Fair. Our Scouts ran three separate activities for the fair with great success.

A huge thankyou also for all the adult support of these Scouts, on Camp: Wendy Byrnes, Terry Phillips, Dale Herrick, Rod Byrnes (overnight) and parents helping with transport to and from: Ingrid Holmyard, David Ewings, David Adams, David Woodrow & Kath Phillips.
A special thankyou goes to Wendy Byrnes for acquiring additional gear to help our scouts in their camping this year. Also in developing inter-troop activity with “The Basin” Scout Troop and their Leader Barry Campbell
